Laura Gilreath, May Festival 2010 Bio


Laura Gilreath is a Southern girl who recently relocated to NYC. You can see her on MTV in Never Shout Never's Big City Dreams music video and on Myspace.com sharing a scene with Pete Wentz in The Ready Set's Love Like Woe. She won an Irene Ryan Scholarship nomination for her theater work in The Commedia Project. Laura can be seen performing regularly around the city with her comedy troupe, Sunday Morning Mimosa. She currently studies at HB Studio and The Upright Citizen's Brigade. She is sooo very excited to be a part of this 48 Hour Play Festival and hopes she can remember her lines.

Jevin McFerrin, May Festival 2010 Bio


Jevon began performing with his father on stage, and at thirteen he performed in The Children’s Theater production of The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. He attended the Creative and Performing Arts High School of Philadelphia and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, training in the Meisner technique and receiving his certification of Advanced Studies in Acting. In 2005 he joined the Academy Company, playing the lead role in Ben Elton's Popcorn most recently was in RENT at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, New York. Jevon would like to thank his family and friends for their loving support.

Sarah Schoofs, May Festival 2010 bio


Sarah, an orphan whose only friends were her doll Emily Marie and, later, her dog Sandy, escaped from the Dickensian orphanage and made her way to NYC with pluck, hard work and a cheery disposition. She later met Oliver Warbucks who has aided her financially in her pursuit of one awe-inspiring acting career. She has since been successful with credits including ‘christian girl who starts orgy’ in Endtimes Productions of ‘Naked Holidays’ as well as recently wrapping on the BiffJuggernaut feature ‘Gut’. She would like to thank Punjab for always keeping it real.

Carolyn McCandlish, May Festival 2010 Bio


Carolyn is psyched to participate in her first From the Hip festival! New York credits: Stomp and Shout (Babel Theatre Project; IT Award nomination, Outstanding Ensemble); The Vagina Monologues (Victims Assistance Services); Break-Up Night (The Relevance Group); Summer Shorts, Fall Briefs (Turtle Shell Productions); Bad Romance, Bryant in the Park, and Schooled (art.party.theater.company). Regional: Samantha Darko in the American Repertory Theater's stage adaptation of Donnie Darko. Graduate of Harvard College and the William Esper Studio's two-year training program.

Ellie Braverman, May Festival 2010



Ellie Braverman, graduated from AMDA and The New School with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. She currently resides in NYC performing in Film, Television, Theater, and Radio as an entertainer while waiting for her big break.

Marielle Duke, May Festival 2010

Marielle Duke (Director): is excited to be working with Left Hip Productions for the first time! A teaching during the day but a director at heart, she just finished work on Brecht’s Good Woman of Setzuan (Adaptive Arts) and Mose Hayward’s Attack of the Nearly Dead Russian Children (Boomerang Theatre Company/ World Theatre Day). She is the Artistic Director of Adaptive Arts, an off-off company that promotes awareness of Autism through the arts. She also has worked with various companies throughout NY including Women’s Expressive Theater, Impetuous Theater Group, and Boomerang Theatre Company. Recently she received a BA in Theatre Arts from Drew University and is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Educational Theatre and Special Education at CCNY.
